Windows xp software problems

Hours and hours wasted attempting to fix this has gone nowhere and I am not illiterate on these. Thanx anyway…good looking out…just not good for me.. Hi, I was installing windows XP while formating went well then PC rebooted but it stuck on page as shown similar as below.

Hi there it seems you have a hard drive problem. The SMART monitoring system is warning you of an impending drive failure and telling you to backup now. But i guess you have already backed up your files because you have just formatted. You can stick this hard drive in an external case and do a few tests on it. For example if you have a Samsung hard drive you can get free test software from Samsung.

You can try formatting again but do a low level format. Sometimes works?? Put another hard drive in now and install Windows on that. Hi, thanx for reply. I really appreciate all the help you give us. I do have a Win. I keep it because I love it. My printer, monitor, music accessories etc, can only work with the XP.

The 7 crashed twice this year. I agree, the 7 is better and more reliable. Finally, not everyone can afford the 7. Thanks again. Results 1 to 24 of Last edited by Saarang84; at PM. Reason: Solved. Re: Software Installation problems in Windows XP I tried what you said and i'm sure that my hard disk is in fine shape. The problem's with my SATA disk only. Well information should be as clear as possible. I will check again tomorrow because I want to go home now. Thanks for the help. If you already have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, you'll continue to receive antimalware signature updates for a limited time. However, please note that Microsoft Security Essentials or any other antivirus software will have limited effectiveness on PCs that do not have the latest security updates.

If you continue to use Windows XP now that support has ended, your computer will still work but it might become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Internet Explorer 8 is also no longer supported, so if your Windows XP PC is connected to the Internet and you use Internet Explorer 8 to surf the web, you might be exposing your PC to additional threats.

Also, as more software and hardware manufacturers continue to optimize for more recent versions of Windows, you can expect to encounter more apps and devices that do not work with Windows XP. What does it mean if my version of Windows is no longer supported?

Which version of Windows am I running? Very few older computers are able to run Windows 10, which is the latest version of Windows. We recommend that you check out the Windows 10 specifications page to find out if your PC meets the system requirements for Windows For more detailed information, read the FAQ.

For whatever reason, it wouldn't load my drivers so I chose phone activation. After spending a few minutes on the Microsoft automatic activation hotline, it tells me that my Installation ID is not valid.

I spoke with a representative for several minutes trying to explain my desktop migration, only to find out that I need my product key. Unfortunately, my father got me the old computer from his work, so the Product Key sticker on the side doesn't match the operating system the sticker is for XP Home.

I tried installing a copy of windows into a virtual machine I do this as precaution so that I don't accidentally delete important school or work files only to find out the the product key is no longer valid. Since I cannot login to the desktop anymore it won't let me due to my dilemma I cannot retrieve my product key in any way to my knowledge.

Long story short: I do not have my product key for the install of Windows that I currently have, however I do know for a fact that it was and should still be Genuine. Go to Solution. According to the OEM End Users License Agreement, you could only replace the motherboard with the same model or a revised version of the same model. Anything else is considered by Microsoft to be a new computer, and a new copy of Windows is needed. View solution in original post. If I were to put all the hardware back into the original tower with the first motherboard, would I still need to re-activate and if so would it still be possible given the situation?
